Mary Poppins; Reinvented

Brief - Create a re-invented version of a classic book.

Concept - Mary Poppins with a new twist; her magical experiences with the children are no longer innocent but are the product of being in an altered state of consciousness caused by the consumption of psychedelic drugs (LSD, mushrooms, cannabis, DMT). In regards to the Mary Poppins tale the drugs are consumed through the medicine Poppins gives the children, helped down with a spoonful of sugar.

Solution - A re-invented book with bold textures covering each page inspired by psychedelic experiences and some visually altered text to give the viewer a small glipse into the brain affected by drugs.
Chapter 1- A chapter describing Poppins' entrance; the children view from the window as their new nanny arrives via the wind in a storm and is blown straight to their front door.
Chapter 2 - In the first spread the children and Mary experience a jolly tea party on the ceiling of Poppins' uncle's room. Underneath shows their journey home, with the children asking Mary questions about her uncle and the teaparty, and Mary denying any memory of magic at all.
Chapter 3 - The tale of Mary's friend, the red cow, when she jumps over the moon in order to remove the star attactched to her horn.
Chapter 4 - In the first spread Mary's magic compass allows her and the children to travel the world in seconds but when Michael uses it alone in the spread below, the magic turns on him in a nightmare. This spread signifyes the common negative side to psychedelic drugs - often described as a 'bad trip'.
